Although the rainy weather might not feel like it, we are in the middle of summer. So, why not make your home feel more seasonal by filling your traditional conservatory with pretty, colourful flowers?
Streptocarpus
For a beautiful summer bloom, opt for pots of streptocarpus, which come in a variety of colours.
The great news about these open, flat flowers is they are incredibly easy to look after. Simply put them in a bright area of the conservatory out of direct sunlight.
Make sure to water them regularly, top them up with potash rich liquid fertiliser and deadhead them regularly. This will ensure they stay blooming for several months of the year.
Hoyas
If you want a lovely scent in the conservatory, opt for hoyas, or wax flowers.
There are several varieties of hoyas to choose from, including hoya carnosa, hoya australis, hoya lacunosa, and hoya bella.
Grow these in a bright area, out of direct sunlight for best results.
Geraniums
Geraniums are among the most popular summer flowers, whether you grow them indoors or outside.
Place them in a dry spot inside the conservatory where they can also get lots of daylight.
If you want a ready supply of blooms, deadhead them.
Moth orchid
Orchids are beautiful exotic plants that are surprisingly low-maintenance. Moth orchids, otherwise known as phalaenopsis, are particularly easy to look after.
Simply place them on an east or west-facing windowsill to avoid them getting too hot in the sunshine, water them in the morning and do not overwater.
